About Me.

Hello.

Hello, I am Summer Baer!

I am a St. Louis based theatre artist who has performed, directed, written, and produced all over the city. Originally from Wichita, KS, I moved to STL after completing my performance degree at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

After getting my degree at SIUE, I was fortunate enough to work with Slightly Askew Theatre Ensemble on multiple occasions wearing a variety of hats. After that I was able to step into a role with Tennessee Williams Festival STL. I have since worked with New Jewish Theater, who allowed me to grow and learn in so many new ways. There are so many artists and companies I could thank for giving me a platform to try things and grow as an artist. I believe that we never stop learning, which is why I followed some of these performances by producing and directing a staged reading of The Clinic by Will Brumley as a benefit to aid the Gateway Women’s Access Fund. This reading was a fight for reproductive rights as Missouri passed a bill outlawing abortion.

Theatre has shaped me, and my views, for years and it dictates the way I express myself. I love collaborating and creating new theatre that approaches controversial and interesting subjects. Feminism, economics, climate change, and politics are all subjects I love diving into, dissecting, and analyzing with my colleagues. I strive for a challenge and I am continuously looking for the next thing that will stretch me in exciting new ways.

I am always happy to talk, collaborate, and connect with people of all walks of life. Therefore, reach out on social media, send me an email, or ask me to meet up for a cup of tea (or coffee, if that’s your preference). I can’t wait to talk to you!
